Under his leadership, the team performed admirably, accumulating an impressive 99 points in the league last season. However, they fell just three points short of their city rivals, Galatasaray. “Our company has initiated discussions with Jose Mario Dos Santos Mourinho Felix for the position of Football A team coach,” stated the Fenerbahce post.
“We are pleased to inform our investors.” If negotiations are finalized, Mourinho will be responsible for guiding Fenerbahce to their first Super Lig title since the 2013-14 season. The accomplished Portuguese manager boasts an impressive collection of eight league trophies on his CV, earned in four different countries: England, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
Mourinho’s successful stints include three triumphs with Chelsea, two with Inter Milan, two with Porto, and one with Real Madrid. In addition to his impressive record of winning five major European trophies, he has achieved great success by securing the Champions League title with Inter and Porto, as well as the Europa League with Manchester United.
In 2022, Mourinho achieved his most recent success with Roma, guiding them to victory in the Europa Conference League. This was a significant milestone for the club, as it marked their first European trophy. The following season, Mourinho’s leadership helped Roma reach the Europa League final, although they unfortunately fell short and lost to Sevilla in a penalty shootout.
Daniele de Rossi took over as Roma’s boss in January, when the team was in ninth place in Serie A. Eventually, they finished in sixth place. Mourinho is scheduled to make an appearance on TNT Sports as a pundit for their coverage of the Champions League final on Saturday.
Fenerbahce, the dominant force in Turkish football with a staggering 28 championship titles, have unfortunately fallen short in the last three seasons. Despite an impressive record of only one loss and six draws, Kartal’s team was unable to prevent Galatasaray from securing consecutive titles.
